Il corredo : refers to the dowry which included all household and personal linens as well as items of furniture or goods for the house (eg. glassware, crockery, cutlery etc). This dowry always remained the property of the bride.

La dote ( also ‘la dodde’ in many dialects) : refers to a financial settlement, lands or other gifts like crops, animals, farm equipment etc. that the bride’s father may also bestow on the groom for him to manage and profit from.

Il baule : (also referred to as ‘la cascia’ in some dialects) is the metal or wooden case in which the bride’s linens and household goods were stored or transported.
